(The following is a story about the January 2011 African-American Health Fair) Over 1,000 African Americans Attend 9th Annual Health Fair More 1,000 African-Americans converged upon the Renaissance Denver Hotel on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011 to take advantage of free health screenings, exhibits and workshops at the Center for African-American Health's 9th Annual Health Fair. The free screenings included:
Seventy exhibitors provided information on topics ranging from caregiver education, weight loss, nutrition, asthma, and resources for seniors. Workshops on fall prevention, CPR and diabetes also were held. Plus, there were other free activities such as:
The Center for African-American Health extends its thanks to the more than 300 volunteers who worked at the health fair, and to its two major sponsors, Eli Lilly and the Caring for Colorado Foundation. The 2012 African-American Health Fair will be held on Saturday, March 17. Read more. |
